LaKessa Shepherd has over 15 years of experience in the housing and social services sectors, currently serving as a Housing Choice Voucher Family Self-Sufficient Case Manager at the Dallas Housing Authority since May 2008. In this role, LaKessa monitors client progress, facilitates workshops, and manages documentation related to client interactions. Previously, LaKessa held the position of Occupancy Technician, responsible for conducting interviews, verifying eligibility, and managing client communications. Earlier professional experience includes working as a Texas Works Advisor I at the US Department of Health and Human Services, where LaKessa calculated financial eligibility for federal assistance programs. LaKessa holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of North Texas.

DHA, Housing Solutions for North Texas provides quality, affordable housing and supportive services to low-income families and individuals through the effective and efficient administration of housing assistance programs across seven North Texas counties: Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Kaufman, Rockwall, and Tarrant. The agency aims to create opportunities for participants to achieve self-sufficiency and economic independence. DHA provides housing opportunities to 55,700 people through its housing programs. DHA is the 8th largest Housing Choice Voucher program in the nation and the 10th largest public housing agency in the nation.
