Carlotta King

General Counsel & Corporate Secretary at Diamond Hill Capital Management

Carlotta King is the current General Counsel & Corporate Secretary at Diamond Hill Capital Management. Carlotta has also previously served as Associate General Counsel for the Managed Funds Association from March 2010 to June 2020.

King is responsible for analyzing regulations and drafting comment letters to regulatory authorities in the U.S., Europe, and Asia on derivatives issues of concern to hedge fund managers. This includes regulations related to central clearing, margin requirements, segregation of collateral, and cross-border issues.

In addition to this, King also monitors and works with the association’s hedge fund manager members to develop recommendations for matters related to the regulation of investment advisers. This includes registration of investment advisers as broker-dealers and modernization of the advertising rules under the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, as amended.

King has also been responsible for engaging and meeting with staff of U.S. and European regulatory authorities on derivatives and investment adviser regulatory matters. In addition, they provide legal support on legislative matters, such as drafting testimony for Congressional hearings, and communications matters, such as drafting public statements and providing background and legal analysis to members of the press on legislative and regulatory matters.

Carlotta King attended Phillips Academy for their high school diploma. Carlotta then went on to Georgetown University where they got their Bachelor of Arts in English, Government and Spanish. After that, they attended Harvard Law School and got their Doctor of Law.

They work with James Smith - MD, Institutional Relationships, Nate Hall - National Director, Partner Relations, and Matthew Lehner - Regional Director, Business Development. Carlotta King reports to Heather Brilliant, CEO & President.
