Gregory Matthews is an experienced professional in scientific computing, currently serving as the Scientific Computing Operations Manager and formerly as a Senior Systems Administrator at Diamond Light Source since January 2009. Gregory leads a team of 10 technical experts, specializing in advanced networking, high-performance parallel file systems, and high-performance computing (HPC), employing Infrastructure-As-Code (IaC) and Platform-As-A-Service (PaaS) methodologies through cfengine. Prior to this role, Gregory was the Head of UNIX and Linux at NERC from 2003 to January 2009, where responsibilities included managing a team that provided 2nd line support to approximately 20 research centers. Gregory's career began as a Network Support Officer at UCL from 1997 to 2002. Gregory holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Hull.
