Jason van Rooyen

Principal Industrial EM Scientist at DIAMOND LIGHT SOURCE LIMITED

Jason van Rooyen is a highly experienced scientist specializing in industrial electron microscopy, currently serving as Principal Industrial EM Scientist at Diamond Light Source since May 2017, with prior roles as Senior cryo-EM Industrial Liaison and Industrial Liaison. Jason's experience includes serving as eResearch Academic Liaison at the University of Cape Town from June 2014 to April 2017, where services were delivered to advance research through IT, along with a postdoctoral research fellowship at EMBL focused on the structural and biochemical characterization of multi-aminoacyl tRNA synthetases. Additionally, Jason was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Cape Town, developing automated microscopy data collection systems. Educationally, Jason holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Cape Town, a Master’s Degree in Structural Biology from the University of the Western Cape, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Molecular Biology and Cell Biology from the University of Cape Town.
