Martin Walsh

Deputy Director Life Sciences at DIAMOND LIGHT SOURCE LIMITED

Martin Walsh has a diverse work experience spanning over several organizations and roles. Martin started their career as a Short Term Visiting Fellow at EMBL in 1994. Martin then worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of York before returning to EMBL in the same role. Martin later joined the Argonne National Laboratory as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow before transitioning to IRBM as a Research Scientist. Martin subsequently became a Senior Research Scientist at IRBM. In 2001, Martin started working at the MRC France as a Group Leader, and also took on the role of Visiting Scientist at EMBL. In 2012, they joined the Research Complex at Harwell as a Group Leader. Most recently, Martin has been at the Diamond Light Source, where they initially served as the Life Sciences Coordinator and is currently the Deputy Director for Life Sciences.

Martin Walsh completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry at the University of Galway from 1985 to 1989. Martin then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Protein Crystallography at the same university, graduating between 1989 and 1994.
