Shiying Zhou

Shiying Zhou is a highly experienced engineering professional currently serving as a Principal Engineer and Planning Lead at DiDi since January 2022, having previously held roles such as Senior Staff Engineer TLM. Prior experience includes a five-year tenure at Waymo, where Shiying Zhou progressed through positions from Software Engineer to Tech Lead. During an academic career at UC Berkeley, Shiying Zhou engaged in research under Professor Masayoshi Tomizuka, focusing on advanced control systems and motion planning, while also holding teaching responsibilities. Internship experiences at Faraday Future and Western Digital provided practical applications in motion planning, control algorithms, and system identification. Shiying Zhou holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, a MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Tsinghua University.
