Paul Colby has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Paul is currently working as the Head of Engineering at Digital Agriculture Services (DAS) since April 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Whispir as an Enterprise Architect from June 2021 to April 2022.
From 2018 to 2021, Paul served as the Chief Technology Officer at Backup365. At MessageMedia, they held various roles starting as a Senior Developer/Technical Lead from December 2010 to February 2015. Paul then became a Solutions Architect/Product Technical Lead from February 2015 to July 2018, where they were involved in designing and implementing messaging gateways and developing new products and services focused on AI, NLP, and mobile payments.
Before that, Paul worked as a Senior Software Engineer at MailGuard Pty Ltd on a short-term contract in 2010, where they integrated MailGuard services with Microsoft products. Paul's earliest work experience was as a Senior Research Specialist at Telstra Research Labs from January 2000 to December 2005. Here, they developed core technologies for prototypes and trials, including SMS barcode ticketing and DVB-H demonstrations.
In 1998 and 1999, Paul worked as a Computer Science Tutor at James Cook University. Overall, Paul Colby has extensive experience in engineering, architecture, product development, and research roles across multiple industries.
Paul Colby obtained a BComp (Hons I) degree in Computer Science from James Cook University, where they studied from 1996 to 1999. In addition to their degree, they have also obtained the following certifications: GitHub Profile Ownership Verified (Ranked in top 0.68%) as of December 2021 from TechieRank, Certificate in Leadership and Strategy from the Australian Institute of Management in May 2023, and Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator from The Linux Foundation in August 2014.
