Kieron Messer

CTO Video Analytics and Artificial Intelligence at Digital Barriers

Kieron Messer has over two decades of work experience in the field of video analytics, artificial intelligence, and biometrics. Kieron founded OmniPerception Ltd in 2001 and served as Research Director until 2013. Prior to that, they worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Surrey where they managed the acquisition of a large video and audio database used in the development of face and speech biometrics. Kieron currently works at Digital Barriers as CTO for both Video Analytics and Artificial Intelligence, and Face Recognition, where they are responsible for designing and developing SmartVis Face, a system of facial recognition products that work together.

Kieron Messer obtained a Bachelor's degree in Physics from Royal Holloway, University of London in 1993. Kieron then pursued a Master's degree in Machine Intelligence at the University of Surrey from 1993 to 1994. Kieron continued their studies at the University of Surrey and was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Image Database Retrieval in 1997.
