John Roome

John Roome is based in London and was Chief Financial Officer for the European operations of Mitsui Sumitomo insurance, part of the 6th largest global general insurance company. He has almost 40 years’ experience as an accountant working across several business sectors, specialising in general insurance for the last 25 years. He is currently working as a non-executive director at an insurance company in London with 8 years’ experience as an audit committee chair in the UK private and public sectors. He is also chairman of a major central London park. While at Chubb Insurance he was responsible for establishing the offshore operations in India and Eastern Europe for the Chubb non-US companies. He has a strong connection with South East Asia that has included an extensive tour of Laos (on a bicycle) and more recently a trip to Cambodia.
