Lauren McMahon

Mathematics Education Researcher at Digital Promise

Lauren McMahon, Ph.D. is a mathematics education researcher on the Learning Sciences Research team at Digital Promise. She is passionate about making mathematics more inclusive and accessible, so students who have been historically marginalized can have more positive and empowering mathematical learning experiences. Her expertise is in mathematics teaching and teacher education, with a focus on discourse and communication. In her research, she explores how different resources for communicating mathematics can help teachers and students make meaningful connections and develop deep understanding of underlying concepts. Lauren holds a Ph.D. in Educational Studies from the University of Michigan, a M.S. in Mathematics from Texas State University, and a B.A. in Mathematics and Business Administration from Trinity University.
