Walter Dansby has a diverse range of work experience in the education field. Walter started their career as a History Teacher and Coach at Rosemont Middle School. Walter then moved on to Southwest High School, where they served as a History/PE Teacher and Basketball Coach. After that, they worked at R.L. Paschal High School as an Assistant Principal before becoming the Principal of O.D. Wyatt High School. During their time as Principal, they implemented block scheduling and a mentoring program.
Dansby's career then transitioned to district-level roles, starting with their role as an Executive Director of the South Quadrant Instructional Support Team. Walter helped develop the instructional support concept and worked with campuses to assess their needs based on student and staff performance. Walter then became an Associate Superintendent of Instruction, overseeing multiple areas such as Athletics, Human Resources, and after-school programs.
Dansby's leadership abilities led him to serve as the Deputy Superintendent of Operations and Administrative Services, where they directed the operation, planning, and development of non-instructional services. Walter also held the position of Deputy Superintendent, overseeing the Capital Improvement Plans and District-wide construction projects.
Their tenure at Fort Worth ISD culminated in their position as Superintendent of Schools, where they provided educational leadership and managed the planning, organization, supervision, and evaluation of the district's education programs, services, and facilities. Walter developed various initiatives such as a new curriculum framework, budgeting processes, and instructional support networks.
After retiring from Fort Worth ISD, Dansby worked as the Senior Vice President and Senior Education Advisor at Dikita Enterprises, Inc.
Walter Dansby's education history includes a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree from The University of Texas at Arlington. Walter also holds a Masters of Education from Tarleton State University. Dansby was awarded an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Humane Letters from Southwestern job updates. In 2019, they obtained an Honorary Doctorate in Education from Dallas Fort Worth Bible Institute & Seminary.
