Laurent Szymkowiak

Laurent Szymkowiak is an experienced professional in financial investigations and customs enforcement. Currently serving as a Financial Investigations Specialist at the World Customs Organization since May 2018, Laurent also holds roles such as Acting Project Manager of Octagon and Formateur COPES at the Direction générale des douanes et droits indirects (DGDDI), where involvement spans from February 1994 to the present, including positions like Inspecteur des douanes and Officier de liaison OCRTIS. In addition, Laurent has worked as an Enforcement Expert at the European Union Intellectual Property Office from March 2019 to September 2023, supporting the European Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights. Laurent is pursuing a Master's degree in financial investigations and criminology at the University of Strasbourg, with previous educational credentials from the French National Academy of Customs and Excises and the University of Lille 1 Sciences and Technology.
