Erik Young, SPHR, currently serves as Lead Employee Relations Consultant at Discover Financial Services since March 2024. Previous experience includes roles as Employee Relations Sr. Consultant at CNA Insurance and Employee Relations Advisor at FedEx Freight. Erik has a strong background in employee relations, specializing in policy interpretation, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions. Notable duties involved leading internal investigations, partnering with cross-functional teams, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Prior to these roles, Erik worked at United Airlines as a Human Resources Staff Representative, where management of leave of absence and workers' compensation cases was a key responsibility. Erik holds a Master of Science in Human Resources & Industrial Relations and a Graduate Certificate in Business Ethics from Loyola University Chicago, alongside extensive coursework towards a PhD in Labor and Employment Relations from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies & Psychology from Elmhurst University.
