Bryan W. Wunar

President & CEO at Discovery World

Bryan Wunar's work experience includes serving as the President & CEO of Discovery World since 2019. Previously, they worked at the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago from 2012 to 2019, initially as the Director of Community Initiatives where they transformed the department into a national model for museum impact. Bryan also led the development of programs for high school students. Prior to that, Bryan held the position of Senior Director, Science and Mathematics Curriculum Program at EDC from 2010 to 2012, where they established a national resource center for the transition to Common Core State Standards in Mathematics. From 2004 to 2010, they worked at the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago, first as the Director of Teaching and Learning, and later as the Director of Education. Bryan played a key role in establishing education programs and leading a team of educators. Before that, they were the Associate Vice President, Education and Programs at Adler Planetarium from 1998 to 2004, where they led various teams in designing visitor experiences and created educational programs. Bryan's early career included work as a Project Director & Lecturer at Loyola University Chicago from 1993 to 1998.

Bryan Wunar's education history includes a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Educational Psychology, ABD from Loyola University Chicago. Bryan also earned a Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) in Philanthropy and the Non-Profit Sector from the same institution. Additionally, they obtained a Master of Arts (MA) in Curriculum and Instruction with their thesis defended with distinction. Bryan Wunar also holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) with honors in Biology, and has been awarded the President's Medal and the Undergraduate Research Award.
