Marc LaLonde

Hon. Marc Lalonde is a lawyer who occupied several Cabinet positions in the Canadian government between 1972 and 1984. Among other things, as Minister of Health and Welfare, in 1972 he was responsible for the enactment of a major reform of the Canadian social security system. In 1974 he published "New Perspectives on the Health of Canadians," a document that became known as "The Lalonde Report” and greatly influenced public health policy in the world. He is also a renowned international arbitrator.
