Farid Patel, CPA, CGA, CISA, is an experienced professional in the fields of finance and technology risk, currently serving as a part-time faculty member at Durham College and Seneca Polytechnic. Since March 2021, Farid has worked as a Solution Consultant specializing in IFRS 9/17, Actuarial Cashflow modeling for insurance products at SAS. Farid is also actively involved in the community as a volunteer with the Distress Centres of Greater Toronto. Previous roles include consulting on technology risk at BMO Financial Group, serving as a Subject Matter Expert at Scotiabank and TD, and contributing to the design of IT Audit courses for York University. Farid holds a Master's degree in International Economic and Finance from Ryerson University and has multiple SAP certifications.

Distress Centres of Greater Toronto
For 50+ years, Distress Centres of Greater Toronto has provided 24-hour support, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to individuals in our community who are at-risk and vulnerable. We are Canada’s oldest volunteer delivered crisis, emotional support, and suicide prevention + intervention + postvention service agency. Our crisis and emotional distress services are available via telephone, online chat, and text. We provide services in 9 different languages: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi. We also offer face-to-face individual and group support/counselling to those who have lost a loved one to suicide or homicide and are navigating through their healing journey. Distress Centres of Greater Toronto continues to expand, and our service users, service demands, and call volume increase each year.
