Dr Grant Fourie qualified as a medical doctor from the University of Pretoria, South Africa, in 1995. He spent 2 years spent in the UK in the specialities of Trauma Medicine, Orthopaedic surgery and ENT, after which he returned to South Africa.
In a world that has become so focussed on specialist medicine, and in which the GP is seen as some sort of a ‘minor illness’ or referral doctor, he realised that the general family practitioner was perfectly suited to practice functional and integrative health and could have the greatest impact of his patients quality and quantity of life of any doctor. Dr Fourie now runs a Functional Medicine practice in Cape Town.
