Daniel Avestruz has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Daniel began their career as a Risk Analyst at Statoil ASA in 2006 and progressed to positions such as Senior Risk Analyst and Lead Analyst in Market Risk Management Crude Oil Trading. At Statoil, their responsibilities included managing global crude oil portfolios, communicating risk and analysis, and serving as a focal point between management, trading, and risk management.
In 2011, Daniel transitioned to Norsk Hydro, where they worked as an LME Trader and later became a Senior LME Trader. Daniel was responsible for risk management of Hydro's global aluminum market risk, trading with financial instruments on the London Metal Exchange, and leading the LME trading team.
Moving on to DNO ASA in 2014, Daniel served in various roles, including Corporate Finance Controller and Finance Manager Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Their responsibilities included financial control for business units, developing forecasting and reporting models, managing the local finance team, and providing accurate financial information to government and license partners.
In 2018, Daniel joined Northstar Oman AS (former DNO Oman AS) as a Board Member until 2022.
Prior to their tenure at Statoil ASA, Daniel worked as a Controller at Orkla Foods Norge AS (Stabburet AS) from 2004 to 2006. Their responsibilities included profitability analysis, management of agricultural subsidies, and tax and customs for domestic food production.

Daniel Avestruz began their education in 1998 at Officer Candidate School, where they studied at Befalsskolen for Feltartilleriet. Daniel completed their studies there in 2000. In the same year, they enrolled at BI Norwegian Business School and pursued a degree in Siviløkonom / Master of Business Economics with a focus on Finance. Daniel successfully completed their studies at BI Norwegian Business School in 2004. Additionally, in 2003, Daniel briefly attended the University of Minnesota - Carlson School of Management, where they studied towards a Master of Business Economics with a specialization in Finance.
