Simon Gauntlett

Simon Gauntlett is a seasoned technology leader with extensive experience in the media and entertainment industry. Currently serving as Senior Director of Immersive Media Technology at Dolby Laboratories, Simon develops the XR strategy for AR and VR experiences and represents the CTO Office in Europe. Previous roles include Director of Imaging Standards and Technology at Dolby, where Simon focused on HDR and Dolby Vision standards, and Co-Chair of the Next Generation Media Working Group at the Digital TV Group, addressing the complexities of content presentation in an evolving technological landscape. Additionally, Simon held the position of Chair of the SMPTE UK Section and served as Chief Technology Officer at the Digital TV Group, guiding the technology strategy for the UK TV industry. Simon's early career includes significant contributions at the BBC, where transmission of HD over DVB-T was achieved, and a solid educational background in Electronic and Communications Engineering from the University of Exeter.
