Mark D. Mitchell

SVP, Project Construction at Dominion Energy

Mark D. Mitchell is senior vice president–Project Construction.

He leads the Company’s Project Construction group which supports the Company’s significant growth of offshore wind, solar and energy storage as well as execution of major Gas and Generation Construction projects. The Project Construction Group is responsible to deliver projects across all business segments that are safe, environmentally compliant, on time and on budget.

Mitchell joined the Company in 2000 as a project manager. Since 2000, he has been responsible for the installation of numerous generation projects for the Company, including major plant retrofits, the Virginia City Hybrid Energy Center, new combined-cycle and simple cycle gas turbine stations, onshore wind turbines, the offshore wind program, solar, and new nuclear development.

In his prior position, Mitchell was responsible for generation projects for the Company and its affiliates. He assumed his current position in September 2020.

Prior to joining Dominion Energy, Mitchell worked from 1995 to 2000 on various projects in the United States, Europe, and Africa. From 1982 to 1995, he worked in the utility industry on various projects for large utilities, including construction and startups for four nuclear plants.

A native of Ashland, Virginia, Mitchell received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware and a master’s degree in business administration from Wilmington College. He is a registered professional engineer. He also attended the Reactor Technology Course for utility executives at MIT and The Executive Program at the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.
