Sophie Toya

Sophie Toya, MD, MS, currently serves as Research Faculty at Oakland University since October 2024. Previously, from October 2021 to October 2024, Sophie held the position of Associate Director of Clinical Development for Respiratory at Dompé, where responsibilities included the design of phase 2 and 3 clinical trials, organization of investigator meetings, and interaction with key opinion leaders and regulatory bodies. As an Intensivist at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana from 2018 to 2021, Sophie improved patient flow and nurse satisfaction in the ICU. Prior experiences include working as a Pulmonologist at Covenant HealthCare and Great Lakes Pulmonary & Sleep Associates, where Sophie provided comprehensive pulmonary care and developed educational programs for practitioners and patients. Academic roles also include serving as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, focusing on stem cell research in lung disease. Sophie is pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Research Organization and Management at Drexel University, with prior education including multiple fellowships and residencies in pulmonary, critical care, and internal medicine.
