Laura H. Layton

Mrs. Layton was born and raised in Snow Hill, Maryland. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Towson University, and a Master’s Degree in Education from Salisbury University. She taught English at North Dorchester High School, Mace’s Lane Middle School, and Cambridge-South Dorchester High School for a total of 33 years. Retiring from teaching in 2008, she became an active partner in the family business, Lazy Day Farms, and in 2010, she and her family opened Layton’s Chance Winery. In 2016, Mrs. Layton decided to pursue her passion for education by running for the District 5 seat on the Dorchester County Board of Education.
