Doris Duke Conservation Scholar at Doris Duke Foundation

Amaya McKenna is an accomplished intern at the San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory, contributing since June 2017. Concurrently, Amaya participates as a Doris Duke Conservation Scholar with the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, engaging in ecological research and presentations since June 2016. As the Light Bulb Swap-out Coordinator at the Environmental Center, efforts focus on energy conservation and awareness on campus through the distribution of free LED light bulbs. Additionally, Amaya plays a pivotal role as an organizer for Still it Turns, a community group addressing environmental and social injustices through discussions and events. Amaya holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies and Philosophy from Fort Lewis College, earned in 2019.
