Mary Felton

Mary Felton, Ed.D., NBCT, MBA has extensive experience in the education field, spanning over two decades. Mary is currently employed as a School Principal at Dougherty County School System since July 2021. Prior to this, Mary served as a Principal for the Second Chance Academy at Evans County Schools from July 2019 to July 2021, where they created a supportive educational environment for students. Mary also worked as an Assistant Principal and Disciplinary Hearing Officer at the same institution from July 2017 to June 2019.

Before Evans County Schools, Mary worked as the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction at Bulloch County Public Schools from February 2014 to June 2017. In this role, they oversaw various programs and services, such as curriculum development, gifted education, career and technical education, and special education services.

Mary's career in education began in the Rockdale County Public Schools, where they served as an Assistant Principal and District Curriculum Literacy Coach. Mary supervised students, enforced school policies, and supported teachers in curriculum implementation during their time there.

Before transitioning to the education field, Mary served as a Director at Chris Felton Brokerage & Financial Services, Inc., where they built long-term relationships with clients and helped them achieve their business objectives from July 1993 to July 2013.

Mary's earlier teaching experience includes working as a 5th Grade Teacher at Rockdale County School Board from August 2008 to June 2009. Mary also served as a Reading Coach, Department Chairperson, and Instructional Technology Specialist at Miami-Dade County Public Schools between 2003 and 2008.

During their career, Mary actively contributed as a Developer/Trainer for Just Read Florida, a program under NCLB and Reading First. Mary also served on the KAPLAN K12 Learning Service Advisory Board, providing feedback on new programs and initiatives.

Mary also holds an Ed.D. degree in Education Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. Additionally, they have an Ed.S. degree in Specialist in Reading and an M.S. degree in Elementary Education, both from Barry University. Mary Felton has also obtained certifications in Educational Leadership Tier II from the Georgia Performance Standards Commission in June 2008 and in National Board Certified Teacher - Early Childhood/Generalist from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in November 2001.
