Brent Houghton

Brent Houghton has extensive work experience in software engineering. Brent is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at doxo since February 2020. Previously, they worked as a Software Engineer at Voom, an Airbus company from May 2019 to September 2019.

In 2016, Brent worked at Getty Images as a Senior Software Engineer, where they focused on creating a specialized web experience for non-business site visitors. Brent was responsible for building and maintaining various microservices using Rails, C#, and node.js. Brent also worked in a devops capacity, managing the Docker build process for some of the microservices. Brent worked at Getty Images from November 2016 to August 2018.

Before that, Brent worked as a freelance software developer at Slixbits LLC from January 2016 to October 2016, where they provided web development and devops consulting services. Prior to that, they worked at Slixbits Inc. from November 2013 to December 2015. There, they served as the company president, sysadmin for company server infrastructure, and worked as a senior developer.

In 2012, Brent was the owner and lead software developer at The Bounty Board, a small startup focused on building an open-source marketplace connecting artists to customers for commissions. However, the project was discontinued due to competition from Patreon.

In their early career, Brent worked as a software developer at Ramsgate Engineering / ProGauge Technologies from April 2008 to January 2014. Brent initially worked as a firmware developer for heavy oil extraction equipment and later transitioned to web development, where they developed ProGauge Prime, a data-analysis WebService. Brent was also responsible for creating a highly multithreaded data processing engine in Java for continuous monitoring of active equipment in an oilfield.

In 2012, Brent worked as a lead software developer at Praetorium US for the Filipino penny-auction site PisoAuction, which was ultimately abandoned. Brent played a key role in developing the project and open-sourced the existing code on GitHub.

Brent Houghton obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Physics from UC Santa Barbara between the years 2003 and 2008. Additionally, they achieved a certification as a Red Hat Certified System Administrator from Red Hat in March 2014.
