Nicholas Gottlieb has a diverse professional background with experience in marketing, growth, and entrepreneurship. Nicholas is currently the VP of Marketing at DragonflyDB, a role they started in December 2022. Prior to that, they founded Gambit Growth in January 2020, where they served as Founder. From April 2021 to October 2022, Nicholas worked as the VP of Growth & Marketing at Courier, where they successfully built and managed the revenue team, resulting in a 15x increase in annual recurring revenue within 18 months.
Before their role at Courier, Nicholas was part of the founding team and the first employee in the US at Serverless Inc., where they were the VP of Growth from June 2016 to December 2019. Nicholas played a crucial role in establishing the company as one of the largest movements in software development and building a significant open-source community.
In 2015, Nicholas took a one-year break and pursued personal interests as a Sailor/Explorer. During this time, they sailed across the Indian Ocean on a 50-foot sailboat and explored Southern Africa. Nicholas documented their experiences through a blog.
Prior to their sailing expedition, Nicholas worked at CircleCI from January 2014 to May 2015 as the first growth/business hire and employee #7. In this role, they developed and implemented a comprehensive go-to-market strategy, led product marketing activities, and established a repeatable sales process. Nicholas also played a pivotal role in the go-to-market efforts for CircleCI Enterprise.
Before CircleCI, Nicholas founded Mobozi in August 2012, an API for searching and discovering mobile web applications. The company was backed by Mozilla's WebFWD accelerator. Nicholas served as the Founder/CEO until December 2013.
Nicholas also has experience as a Product Manager at Floor22 from August 2011 to April 2012, where they led a team in building custom marketing tools for various clients. Additionally, they briefly founded Kuppon.jp in February 2011, a platform providing discounts for popular destinations in Japan. Prior to that, they worked as a Consultant at Hello Global from January 2010 to January 2011, leading market research projects for US and European investment groups interested in acquiring businesses in Japan.
Nicholas Gottlieb attended Lewis & Clark College from 2005 to 2009, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology. In 2007, they also participated in a study abroad program at Kansai Gaidai University, focusing on Japanese Language and Culture.
