Jakub Walenda

Jakub Walenda is an experienced professional in humanitarian disarmament, peacebuilding, and organizational management. Currently serving as the Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding Programme Manager and Capacity Building Programme Manager at the Danish Refugee Council since January 2023, Jakub previously held multiple roles at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH from July 2019 to January 2023, including Operations Team Leader and Multi-Track Peacebuilding Advisor within the Syria portfolio. Jakub's extensive involvement with non-profit initiatives includes founding and directing TECHO, a youth-led organization focused on combating poverty in Latin America and the Caribbean, and serving as the Chairman of its Advisory Board until October 2020. Educational qualifications include a Master's degree in Political Science and Government from Université libre de Bruxelles and a Master of Arts from Freie Universität Berlin, complemented by Bachelor's degrees in Political Science and Sociology from Latvijas Universitate and Political Science from Goethe University Frankfurt.
