Scientist II at Dren Bio

Sagar Sohoni has a diverse work experience in the field of scientific research. Sagar started their career as a Junior Research Fellow at Sinhgad College, working on a project focused on cloning and characterizing Toll-like Receptor-4. Sagar then worked as a Research Assistant at Praj Industries Ltd., where they conducted strain improvement and maintenance research for developing ethanol and inhibitor tolerant yeast strains.

Sagar joined UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas as a Graduate Student Intern in the Department of Immunology, where they studied the role of the B-Cell Adapter for PI3K in immunoglobulin production. Sagar also served as a Teaching Assistant for Immunology at the University of Texas at Dallas during this time.

At The University of Texas, Sagar performed various roles, including Graduate Student Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant for Cell Biology and Biochemistry. As a Graduate Student Research Assistant, they studied the relationship between heme intake and cancer risk. Their research focused on the impact of heme on mitochondrial function and oxygen utilization.

Sagar's most recent position was as a Postdoctoral Fellow at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Here, they focused on developing novel strategies to combat breast cancer brain metastasis. Sagar worked in the Department of Neuro-Oncology, investigating the combination of oncolytic virotherapy and immunotherapy for treating brain metastases in Stage IV Breast Cancer patients.

Presently, Sagar works as a Scientist II at Dren Bio, Inc.

Sagar Sohoni began their education journey at Savitribai Phule Pune University, where they completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from 2004 to 2007. Sagar then pursued further studies at the same university and obtained a Master of Science degree in Microbiology, which they completed from 2007 to 2009.

In 2011, Sagar enrolled at The University of Texas at Dallas, where they pursued a Master of Science degree in Molecular and Cell Biology. Sagar completed the program in 2013.

Driven by their passion for research and academia, Sagar continued their education at The University of Texas at Dallas and embarked on a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program in Molecular and Cell Biology from 2013 to 2019. During this time, they focused on advancing their knowledge and expertise in the field.

Sagar then embarked on a new chapter in their education journey in 2019 when they joined The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center as a Post Doctoral Fellow. Sagar specialized in Oncology and Cancer Biology, with a particular focus on Immunotherapy. This post-doctoral fellowship provided him with valuable research experience and an opportunity to contribute to the field.
