Mike Bagley has been practicing for more than 40 years in both First Party Insurance Matters and Workers’ Compensation defense.
He has extensive experience in insurance coverage and in representing the health care industry, governmental agencies, and manufacturers. He has tried hundreds of cases around the Southeast and in virtually every county in Georgia, and he has taken and defended thousands of depositions including expert witness statements.
In addition, Mike has extensive experience in counseling clients in coverage disputes, bad faith, arson and fraud. His clients include insurance companies from across the country. He is a past Chair of the Property Insurance Committee of the ABA’s Tort, Trial and Insurance practice section.
For over 25 years, Mike has been a contributing author of the Mercer Law Review Annual Survey of Georgia Law and he has co-authored nine editions of the GWCA Desk Manual which provides comprehensive case law and legislative updates. Additionally, he has continuously served as the chief editor for more than 160 editions of Drew Eckl & Farnham’s Journal.
Mike Bagley has previously held leadership positions with the ABA, Tort, Trial and Insurance practice section, the State Bar of Georgia including serving as Chair of the Workers’ Compensation Section, and the Chair of the Ethics Committee of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel.
Mike received the Tom S. Howell Memorial Award at the 2015 State Board of Workers’ Compensation Seminar. This award is one of the top recognitions for anyone involved in the Workers’ Compensation system and honors someone who exhibits a continuing commitment to excellence and enduring passion towards the betterment of the Workers’ Compensation system in Georgia. He also has been listed as a Super Lawyer every year since the inception of the honor. He has received an AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale Hubbell for his high ethical standards and professionalism. In 2018, he was selected by his peers for inclusion in the Best Lawyers in America© 25th edition in the field of Workers' Compensation in Atlanta. Mike was elected into the American College of Coverage Counsel in 2019.
In addition to serving the legal community, Mike has been very involved in firm management including serving as Chair of the Board of Directors.
