Thad McKinnon

Thad McKinnon has a diverse range of work experience in the field of internal audit. Thad currently holds the position of Director of Internal Audit - Internal and Franchise Audit at Driven Brands Inc., starting in August 2022. Prior to this, Thad worked at Wolfspeed, where they held multiple roles including IT Internal Audit Manager and Internal Audit Manager. In these roles, they led teams through various audits, including IT SOX audits, operational audits, and ransomware readiness assessments. Thad also played a key role in assisting management with the design of an updated SOX environment for a SAP 4/HANA implementation. Before their time at Wolfspeed, Thad worked at Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP as a Senior Assurance Associate, where they led teams in SOX testing and worked on internal audit engagements. Thad also gained experience at Grant Thornton LLP as a Business Advisory Services Senior Associate and Associate, focusing on SOX compliance testing, privacy inspections, and ITGC testing. Thad's work experience also includes their role as an Enterprise Risk Management Initiative Graduate Assistant at North Carolina State University, where they conducted research in ERM and organized ERM roundtables.

Thad McKinnon obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) degree with a major in Accounting from Appalachian State University, where they studied from 2006 to 2010. Thad later pursued a Master of Accountancy (MAcc) degree in Accounting and Enterprise Risk Management at North Carolina State University from 2011 to 2012. Thad also obtained various certifications throughout their career, including Certified Construction Auditor from the National Association of Construction Auditors in 2020, Certified Fraud Examiner from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) in 2018, Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist from ACAMS in 2015, and Certified Internal Auditor from The Institute of Internal Auditors Inc. in 2015.
