Orlando Drainage Group Leader / Project Manager at DRMP

Gene McClendon's work experience begins in 1999 when they worked as a Co-op for the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) facilities management division. During this time, they assisted in the design of NC interstate rest areas, resident engineers' offices, and renovated Amtrak rail stations. Gene also gained proficiency in AutoCAD and modern structural and mechanical engineering applications.

In 2000, Gene continued their Co-op role with NCDOT but shifted to the facilities management division. Here, they had increased contact with bidding contractors, handled bidding inquiries, and engaged in field and inspection activities.

In 2001, Gene worked as an Intern for Kimley-Horn & Associates in their Site/Civil division. During this time, they assisted in the design of stormwater systems, grading plans, and performed AutoCAD tech work. This experience gave him a deeper understanding of private consulting compared to NCDOT work.

From 2002 to the present, Gene has been employed at DRMP, Inc. as an Orlando Drainage Group Leader and Project Manager. Gene started as a Project Manager and gained experience as a project engineer in the water resources department. Gene developed extensive knowledge in roadway and drainage design, specializing in producing construction plans for FDOT, county, and city projects. Gene also became proficient in using Microstation for developing roadway construction plans.

Overall, Gene McClendon has accumulated diverse experience in project management, engineering, design, and technical skills throughout their career.

Gene McClendon attended North Carolina State University from 1997 to 2002, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. Gene later obtained the Professional Engineer (PE) certification from the North Carolina Board of Professional Engineers in May 2018. Additionally, they received the Professional Engineer certification from the Florida Board of Professional Engineers in June 2007.
