Ron Damron

President & COO at Drummond

Mr. Damron began his career with the company in 2000 as Manager of Project Engineering and was responsible for engineering development of new mining and business ventures related to mining and energy projects. During this time he was managing the exploration and development of the El Descanso and Guaimaral reserves in Colombia, South America and developing new surface mining projects in Alabama. Starting in 2003, Mr. Damron became Manager of Engineering at Drummond Ltd.’s Colombian operations. He later would serve as Vice President of Engineering and Vice President of Mining Operations. In 2016, he was promoted to Chief Operating Officer of Drummond International, LLC.

Mr. Damron is responsible for the mining, railroad, and port operations in Colombia including approximately 10,000 employees and direct contractors. During Mr. Damron’s tenure, the Colombian mines have become the leading producer and seller of thermal coal in Colombia.

Prior to his employment at Drummond, Mr. Damron worked with Pittston Coal Management Company. He has a B.S. in Mine Engineering from the University of Utah. Mr. Damron has been trained in Investment Decision Methods at the Colorado School of Mines and coal preparation at Penn State University. He also completed the Executive Program at Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. Mr. Damron and his wife Julie have three married children, two sons and a daughter, and four grandchildren.
