Benjamin J S Lim has a diverse and extensive work experience. Benjamin J S is currently working as a Legal Counsel at DS NORDEN. Prior to this, they served as an Associate at Campbell Johnston Clark from 2019 to 2022, specializing in international arbitration in the shipping industry. At Ang & Partners, they worked as a Legal Associate from 2017 to 2019, handling various commercial litigation and advisory cases related to shipping and international trade. Benjamin J S also worked as the Group General Counsel at Flagship Corporation (Far East) Pte Ltd from 2016 to 2017, providing legal and compliance advice to a diversified group of businesses. Before that, they trained at Colin Ng & Partners LLP as a Practice Trainee and assisted in shipping-related arbitrations. Additionally, they have experience in the commodities industry, where they served as a Trader and Regional Lead at Charter Capital Singapore Pte Ltd from 2011 to 2015. Benjamin J S started their career as a Foreign Service Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Singapore) in 2005, conducting political reporting and policy analysis.

From 2001 to 2005, they attended the National University of Singapore, where they earned their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree with merit. Their field of study was Political Science and China Studies.

In 2003 and 2004, they also studied at Sciences Po, completing the Programme International with a focus on Sciences Politiques in the 1st cycle.

In 2012, Benjamin attended Singapore Management University, where they pursued a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in Law. Benjamin J S graduated from this program in 2015.

During 2016, they furthered their legal education at the Singapore Institute of Legal Education, completing Part B of the Singapore Bar Examinations.

In July 2017, Benjamin obtained the certification of Advocate and Solicitor from the Supreme Court of Singapore.

In addition to their academic achievements, Benjamin holds several other certifications. In December 2005, they obtained the Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française - 2nd degré from the Ministère chargé de l'Éducation nationale. In October 2003, they obtained the Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française - 1er degré from the same institution. Benjamin J S also holds the Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level 3 certification from The Japan Foundation, obtained in January 2010, and the Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level 4 certification, obtained in January 2009. Furthermore, they have a Powered Pleasure Craft Driving Licence obtained from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore in December 2012.
