Andrew Purcell

Andrew Purcell currently serves as the Communications Director for Science and Research at dsm-firmenich, a role held since April 2024. Prior to this, Andrew held significant positions at CERN, including Chief Communications Officer for CERN openlab from August 2012 to August 2023, where leadership of the communications office was provided for a public-private partnership with leading ICT companies. Additionally, Andrew acted as the Editor-in-Chief for the publication "International Science Grid This Week" and served as an Online Producer for New Scientist magazine. Earlier experiences include freelance journalism, editorial positions at I, Science magazine, and a news internship at Climate Action. Andrew's academic background includes a Master of Science in Science Communication from Imperial College London and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of York, along with study in Biologie (Pflanzenökologie) at the University of Bayreuth.
