John Whitecar

John Whitecar is currently the VP of Product Strategy at DSP Concepts. Prior to this, they worked as a Sr. Manager Wireless Engineering and Principal Engineer at Tesla Motors from April 2015 to July 2017. There, they delivered high-end multi-antenna, multi-tuner, multi-band automotive radio products from concept to production. John also developed wireless system architecture, technology, product strategy and roadmaps. Furthermore, they managed a team of experienced engineers delivering automotive entertainment radio (AM,FM,HD, DAB and XM), Cellular modem, WiFi, Bluetooth and HomeLink products.

From August 2012 to March 2015, Whitecar held the position of Principal Tuba at the Livonia Symphony Orchestra. There, they were responsible for overall system concept in response to customer inquiries and developed DSP system and algorithms for automotive radio and audio products.

Whitecar has also worked as the CTO Radio/Infotaiment Systems Architect at Texas Instruments from January 2004 to April 2015 and as the DSP Technical Fellow and Chief Infotainment System Architect at Visteon Corporation from July 2000 to January 2004. Prior to that, they were a DSP Technical Specialist at Ford Motor Company from October 1988 to June 2000.

John Whitecar received a BSEE from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in acoustics and audio electronics. John went on to get an MSE in acoustics and digital signal processing from Arizona State University.
