Patrick T. O'Rourke serves as vice president, University Counsel and Secretary of the Board of Regents. O'Rourke was appointed on April 19, 2012, and assumed his responsibilities on June 1, 2012. He has been with the University since 2005 and most recently served as Managing Senior Associate University Counsel for the University of Colorado's litigation office.
In 2011, O'Rourke was one of three finalists for a vacancy on the Colorado Supreme Court, and has tried some of the university's highest-profile cases.
Before joining the University of Colorado, O'Rourke was a director of the law firm Montgomery Little & McGrew, P.C., in Englewood, Colo. He has represented clients in a broad range of lawsuits, including class actions, employment law, civil rights, professional liability and product liability.
In addition to his work in the trial courts, O'Rourke has substantial appellate experience and frequently served as appellate counsel for the Colorado Defense Lawyers Association, The Colorado Medical Society and Copic Insurance Company.
O'Rourke received his undergraduate degree from Creighton University and his law degree from The Georgetown University Law Center. He is a member of the Colorado Bar Association's Ethics Committee.
