Martin Meedom Nielsen is a distinguished physicist with extensive experience in the field of materials physics. Currently serving as a Professor and Deputy Head of Department at the Technical University of Denmark since January 2012, Nielsen leads the Section for Neutrons and X-rays, focusing on ultrafast time-resolved x-ray scattering studies. Additional experience includes serving as Centre Director and Senior Scientist at the European XFEL from July 2014 to June 2022, where Nielsen played a significant role in advancing one of the world's leading X-ray research facilities. Previous positions encompass roles as Centre Director and Senior Scientist at Risø National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy, as well as a professor at the University of Copenhagen. Nielsen's academic journey began with a Ph.D. in Physics from Aarhus University, completed in 1996, following a foundational education at the same institution.
