Bert Ellingboe

Research Director, Plasma Research Laboratory at Dublin City University

Bert Ellingboe has an extensive work experience in the field of plasma research and development. Bert has held various roles in different companies over the years. Starting in 1988, they worked as a researcher at IBM Watson Research. Bert then moved to Varian Semiconductor where they served as a member of technical staff from 1989 to 1991. In 1995, they joined Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory as a research officer. From 1997 to 1998, they worked at Applied Komatsu Technology, focusing on the development of scalable, large-area plasma sources. In 1999, they joined Lam Research as a Senior Member of Engineering Staff. In 2000, they became the Research Director at Dublin City University's Plasma Research Laboratory. In 2005, they founded Phive Plasma Technologies and served as the President and CTO until 2011. Currently, they are the Principal at Probe Diagnostic Systems, a company that specializes in the development of rf-plasma sources for various industries.

Bert Ellingboe completed their PhD in Plasma Physics from The Australian National University from 1991 to 1995. Prior to that, they pursued their AMEP degree in Math, Engineering, and Physics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1984 to 1988.
