Sunil Kanwar, CFA, CFP has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning several industries. Sunil began their career as a Management Trainee at Lufthansa, where they received comprehensive business management training. Sunil then worked as a Sales Officer and Customer Service Agent for Lufthansa before transitioning to Sun Life Financial as an Insurance and Investment Advisor. Sunil then joined RBC Royal Bank as an Account Manager, where they advised personal financial clients on investment options.

Afterwards, Sunil worked at Scotiabank as an Account Manager, managing a portfolio of small business lending accounts. Sunil then moved to BDC as an Account Manager in Business Development, where they built relationships with Canadian entrepreneurs and developed lending proposals. Sunil further advanced their career at Dua & Associates as an Associate, specializing in financing and financial planning for small to mid-sized companies.

Sunil then joined Manulife, starting as a Portfolio Manager in Portfolio Management/Private Wealth. Sunil worked closely with key advisors to structure and develop high-value transactions for affluent clients. Later, they became a Senior Manager in Credit Risk Management at Manulife, adjudicating credit applications and refining underwriting standards.

Most recently, Sunil has held roles at Meridian Credit Union and DUCA Financial Services Credit Union Ltd. At Meridian Credit Union, they served as a Senior Manager in Commercial Credit, responsible for the net loan growth and credit quality metrics of the portfolio for the Region of Waterloo and County of Wellington. At DUCA Financial Services Credit Union, Sunil holds the position of Director of Commercial Credit.

Sunil Kanwar, CFA, CFP holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Mathematics from Himachal Pradesh University, which they received in 1994. Sunil went on to earn a Master's degree in Business/Tourism from the same university in 1996. In 1998, they completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the Indo-German Training Centre.

In terms of professional certifications, Sunil obtained the IFIC certification in November 2001. Sunil then obtained the CFP certification from the Financial Planners Standards Council in June 2005, and the CFA certification from the CFA Institute in October 2008. Additionally, they received the LLQP certification in September 2009.
