Jace Tan has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. In 2016, they worked as a Junior Growth Hacker at Growth Hacking Asia, where they developed content and growth strategies and was responsible for community outreach. In 2018, they served as a Full Stack Developer Intern at Reach plc, where they developed an internal CMS for news editors and learned about industry tools like Docker and AWS. Jace also worked as a Software Developer Intern at Wooden Spoon Charity, where they created a web-based platform for assistive technology and played a key role in devising the software architecture. In 2018, Jace participated in the Kickstart London program as a Resident Entrepreneur and co-founded a SaaS startup that offered virtual assistant software for meetings. Jace spearheaded the product vision and development. In 2019, they interned as a Software Engineer at GoCardless, contributing to the development of a Kubernetes-native Continuous Deployment system and a self-serve secrets management solution. Jace then joined Monzo Bank as a Backend Engineer, specializing first in infrastructure and later in security. Jace led the rollout of a rate limiting system, contributed to greenfield development projects, and provided security consultation to other engineering teams. Currently, they work as a Site Reliability Engineer at Duffel.
Jace Tan completed their education at Imperial College London, where they obtained a Master of Engineering degree in Biomedical Engineering with a Year in Industry. This spanned from 2016 to 2021. Prior to that, they attended Hwa Chong Institution from 2008 to 2013, where they obtained a GCSE A Level degree.
In terms of additional certifications, Jace Tan obtained a Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) with Practice Tests from Udemy in October 2022. They also acquired a Linux certification from TestDome in October 2020, and completed a course titled "Docker Mastery: with Kubernetes + Swarm from a Docker Captain" from Udemy in March 2019.
