Michael Abern

Michael Abern currently serves as the Fellowship Director for the SUO Oncology Fellowship at Duke Cancer Institute and as an Associate Professor of Urologic Oncology at Duke University Health System. Previously, Michael held the position of Associate Professor of Urologic Oncology at the University of Illinois at Chicago from June 2013 to July 2021 and contributed as a surgeon and clinical researcher. Michael has also actively participated in the American Urological Association as Chair and Vice Chair of the Content Review Committee. Academic training includes an MD from Rush University and a BS in General Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Early medical training involved a residency in Urology at Rush University Medical Center.
