Donegan Root

Donegan Root currently serves as the Senior Assistant Director of Special Events at Duke University since May 2023. Prior to this role, Donegan held the position of Associate Director of Development for Alumni and Leadership Giving at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro from April 2022 to May 2023. Between November 2010 and April 2022, Donegan was the Senior Associate Director for Alumni Engagement at UNCG, focusing on outreach and programming for regional and military alumni networks. Donegan’s earlier experience includes roles such as Assistant Director of the UNCG Spartan Club and Director of Operations at North American Medical, Inc., where oversight of technical operations and team management was key. Donegan started a career in management as a General Manager at Battleground Restaurant Group, Inc., and as an Account Manager for Merchants Sales Company. Donegan Root earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Media Studies from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
