Scott Block has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Scott began their career as an Engineer Trainee at United Conveyor Corp. in 2006. Scott then pursued their education, earning a Master's degree and working as a Student Mentor at Texas Tech University. During this time, they also engaged in community outreach programs related to Lego Robotics and educational initiatives.
In 2012, Scott joined the University of California at Davis as a Research Assistant, working on projects involving CMOS front-ends for MEM Sensors, monolith MEMS CMOS front-end for ultrasonic range finders, and MEM Relay Based DC-DC Regulators. Their work included designing, simulating, and testing these components in various processes.
Scott's next role was as an intern at Chirp Microsystems, Inc. in 2014, where they gained experience in the industry. Scott then joined Picosense, Inc. as a part-time intern in 2015.
In 2017, Scott became self-employed as a Research Associate, primarily focusing on grant and proposal writing, job seeking, and odd jobs. Scott also aspired to become an entrepreneur.
Later in 2017, Scott joined SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory as a Staff Engineer 2, where they worked until 2023. During their tenure, they held the position of Senior System Test Engineer at Dukosi, starting in June 2023.
Scott Block has an extensive education history. Scott earned their High School Diploma in General Studies from Lubbock High School in 2001. Scott went on to pursue their Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, graduating in 2006.
In 2007, Scott enrolled at Texas Tech University to further their studies in the field of Electrical Engineering. Scott completed one year at Texas Tech before transferring to Hiroshima Institute of Technology in 2004 for a brief period to undertake a specialized program focused on Japanese language and culture, as well as an introduction to the thermal behavior of I.C. packaging.
Returning to their studies in the US, Scott completed their Master's degree in Electrical Engineering at Texas Tech University from 2008 to 2010. Scott then furthered their academic pursuits by pursuing a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at the University of California, Davis, where they dedicated six years, from 2011 to 2017, towards their research and dissertation.
Throughout their educational journey, Scott demonstrated a keen interest in the field of Engineering, specifically focusing on Electrical Engineering.
