Chief of Police at Dumas Police Department

Rick Pippins has extensive work experience in law enforcement. Rick started their career in 1983 as a Police Officer at Tye Police Department. Rick then joined the Odessa Police Department in 1984, where they served as a Police Captain responsible for technology, research and development, equipment, materials, and training. In 2015, they became the Chief of Police at Azle Police Department, overseeing a department of 32 sworn officers and 14 civilian employees. From 2022 to 2022, they served as the Interim Chief of Police at Rusk Police Department. Currently, they are the Chief of Police at Dumas Police Department, a position they assumed in December 2022. In addition to their law enforcement roles, Pippins also has experience as the President of Western Forensics, L.L.C., where they developed a new technology system for law enforcement. Overall, Pippins has demonstrated their leadership, administrative, and technological skills throughout their career in the policing industry.

Rick Pippins obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Criminology from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin, from the years 2007 to 2010. Prior to that, they attended Odessa College from 1998 to 2000 and received an Associate of Science (A.Sc.) degree in Criminal Justice/Police Science. Additionally, in 2006, they attended the FBI National Academy, although no specific degree or field of study was mentioned.
