Alison Cardone, PMP, SHRM-CP, has an extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Alison started their career as an Associate Consultant at The Ambit Group, where they played a key role in supporting high-visibility projects for the United States Department of Agriculture. Alison then moved on to NVE, Inc., where they provided project management services to USAID and led procurement audits to improve compliance with agency regulations.
Following this, Alison joined Creative Associates International as a Program Liaison Associate, where they served as a liaison between different departments and supported the implementation of business process improvements. Alison also partnered with the Learning & Development team to launch an e-learning platform for staff.
After that, Alison worked at Chemonics International, first as a Project Manager for various USAID-funded projects, managing multi-million dollar budgets and executing strategic initiatives. Alison then became the Operations & Finance Director for a project focused on strengthening the HIV/AIDS supply chain in Lesotho. Later, they served as the Operations Director, leading people and business initiatives for 100+ staff and implementing a corporate project management framework.
Alison then joined Argo AI as the People Operations Business Partner/Manager, where they partnered with leadership to manage headcount, assess performance, and resolve employee relations issues. Alison also project-managed various programs aimed at reducing risk and achieving business objectives. Alison subsequently became the People Operations Manager for Learning & Development.
Currently, Alison is working at Duolingo as the Senior Talent Development Manager. In this role, they oversee talent management and development programs, including performance assessment, leadership development, and career pathing resources. Alison also supports multiple functions with performance management coaching and employee relations expertise. Alison will be transitioning to the role of Director, Talent Development & People Partnerships at Duolingo in 2023, where they will build and launch new talent initiatives at scale.
Throughout their career, Alison has demonstrated expertise in talent development, performance management, project management, and strategic partnerships. Alison holds certifications as a Project Management Professional (PMP) and a Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP).
Alison Cardone, PMP, SHRM-CP, holds a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in International Development with a focus on Human Security. Alison obtained this degree from the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh, where they studied from 2010 to 2012. Prior to their master's degree, Alison attended Wake Forest University from 2004 to 2008, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History.
In addition to their educational background, Alison has obtained several certifications to further enhance their professional expertise. Alison is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute, a certification they achieved in February 2018. Alison also holds the designation of SHRM-Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) from the Society for Human Resource Management, which they obtained in February 2021. Moreover, they have completed Project Management for Development Professionals (PMD Pro 2) certification from APMG International in June 2014 and Project Management for Development Professionals (PMD Pro 1) certification from APMG-International in November 2013.
