Senior Learning Designer at Duolingo

Elizabeth Strong has a diverse work experience in the field of education. Elizabeth currently holds the position of Senior Learning Designer at Duolingo, where they align language curricula to standards and develops new features for teaching languages. Previously, they worked as a French Teacher at the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District, where they taught French at various levels and also served as Acting Department Chair of World Languages. Elizabeth also gained experience as an Intern at the Jack County Museum, where they catalogued artifacts and prepared preservation recommendations and grant proposals. Additionally, Elizabeth has held French teaching positions at the Dallas Independent School District and The Donoho School, where they taught various grade levels and led educational trips. Elizabeth also had a role as a Lower School Librarian at The Donoho School. Elizabeth has also worked as an Adjunct Instructor of Education at Sinte Gleska University, teaching master's and undergraduate level courses. Elizabeth started their teaching career as a Music Teacher at Todd County School District, where they taught vocal music to a large number of students and coached them for competitions. During their time at Purdue University, they worked as a Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant, teaching courses and conducting research in linguistics and sign language. Elizabeth also held teaching positions at The University of Texas at Austin. Elizabeth Strong earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Linguistics from Purdue University, completing their studies from 2004 to 2010. Elizabeth then pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Information Studies from The University of Texas at Austin, which they completed between 2016 and 2019. Prior to that, Elizabeth obtained a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in French Linguistics from The University of Texas at Austin from 2002 to 2004. Their undergraduate studies were completed at The University of Texas at Austin as well, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in French, German, and Japanese from 1998 to 2002. Elizabeth also holds several certifications, including "Digital Learning: Design engaging courses" from 360Learning Engagement Academy, obtained in February 2023, "Disagreeing with Someone Senior to You" from LinkedIn, obtained in January 2023, "Build a Successful Career in Project Management" from LinkedIn, obtained in January 2022, and "Project Management Reinvented for Non-Project Managers" from LinkedIn, obtained in January 2022.
