Karl Channell has a diverse work experience in the field of design and technology. Karl started their career at MVI-Post, where they worked as a Motion Designer and Video Editor, leading the company's interactive services. Karl then joined NYU ITP as a student, pursuing their interests in design and technology. Karl later joined Apple as a Sr. Creative Technologist, where they focused on exploring and building innovative web interactions and experiential media within the marketing team. At Google, they held multiple roles, including Design Lead on Daydream, Staff Designer, and Design Lead on Jamboard, and Sr. UX Motion Designer on Google+. Karl contributed to the development of AR and VR experiences, as well as motion design language. Karl'swork at Google also involved managing design teams and leading product experiences. Most recently, Karl worked at Things, Inc. as a Design Lead, where they focused on creating 3D creation experiences for young minds. Karl visualized mood and style concepts, wireframed interaction flows, built design systems, and managed a design team. Currently, Karl is working as a Principal Product Designer at Duolingo.
Karl Channell began their education at The Potomac School from 1991 to 1997. However, no specific degree or field of study was mentioned during this time. Following their time at The Potomac School, they attended James Madison University from 1997 to 2001. Here, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree with a focus on Multimedia. Later, from 2005 to 2007, Karl pursued further education at New York University, where they obtained a Master of Professional Studies (MPS) degree in Interactive Telecommunications.
