Michael Tallent

Michael Tallent has over 20 years of experience in various information security roles. Michael started their career as an intern and worked their way up to become the Managing Director and Chief Information Security Officer at Duquesne Light Company. Prior to that, they held the position of Head of Cyber Security at Santee Cooper. Michael also served as the Director of Enterprise IT Security and Policy and Chief Information Security Officer at Tennessee Valley Authority. Throughout their career, Tallent has been responsible for developing and implementing information security strategies, evaluating and implementing information security technologies, and ensuring compliance with various regulations. Michael has also managed teams and projects aimed at reducing cyber risk and enhancing cybersecurity posture.

Michael Tallent completed their education in a chronological order. Michael attended The McCallie School from 1987 to 1992. Michael then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Technology at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) from 1992 to 1997. Following that, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Information Systems from MTSU between 1998 and 2001. Later, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, which they completed from 2004 to 2007. In 2012, Michael attended Vanderbilt University - Owen Graduate School of Management for Leadership and Management for Accelerated Performance, although their degree name was not specified. Additionally, Michael has obtained several certifications including Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), Cisco Certified Security Professional, and Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator.
