Julian Close

Julian Close is a distinguished opera singer with extensive experience as a Principal Artist at The Metropolitan Opera and Washington National Opera since June 2015, showcasing roles in Alban Berg's "Lulu" and "Der Ring Des Nibelungen," respectively. Close also holds the position of Principal Artist at Nationale Opera & Ballet, interpreting "Lulu" under Director William Kentridge. Additionally, contributions as a Guest Artist at the Metropolitan Opera began in December 2013, complemented by a robust freelance career in opera since September 2001. Julian Close's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from the University of Leeds and postgraduate training at the Royal Northern College of Music from September 1997 to June 2001.
