Matthew Weishaupt is currently a candidate for Dutchess County District Attorney, having announced this candidacy in January 2023. With extensive experience in the legal field, Weishaupt has served as Chief Assistant District Attorney at the Dutchess County District Attorney Office since 2000, overseeing all office operations and various bureaus, including Special Prosecutions, Narcotics/Gang, and Justice Court. Previously, Weishaupt held multiple roles within the same office, including Senior Assistant District Attorney and Assistant District Attorney. Additional experience includes work as an Assistant District Attorney for the Westchester County District Attorney's Office and a Security Patrol Clerk for the FBI. Weishaupt began a law career as a Police Officer and Deputy Sheriff, and holds a Juris Doctorate from Albany Law School, as well as a Bachelor’s degree from St. Anselm College.
